Samsung's newly announced Galaxy Tab S has been officially launched in India. The new Tab S 10.5 and 8.4 will be available in the market from second week of July


Samsung has launched its two latest tablets — Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and 8.4 — in the Indian market at Rs 37,800 and Rs 44,800, respectively. The Wi-Fi+3G versions of the two tablets will be available starting second week of July, with LTE version coming at a later time.

The two new tablets feature Super AMOLED displays (2560x1600p) and Samsung claims these are the thinnest and lightest devices available in the market.

Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and 8.4 are powered by an Exynos 5 Octa processor (1.9GHz quad-core+ 1.3GHz quad-core), and 3GB RAM. The devices run Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Samsung's customized UI. These feature 16GB internal storage and a microSD card slot that supports cards of up to 128GB.



Samsung's two new tablets sport 8MP rear cameras with LED flash and a 2.1MP front-facing cameras. In terms of connectivity, the tablets offer Wi-Fi (including 802.11ac), Bluetooth 4.0, IrLED, 3G and voice calling capabilities.

The tablets offer software features like SideSync 3.0, allowing users to make and receive calls and share content through their Galaxy S5 phones; a multi-user mode that allows 8 user profiles; and a Kids Mode.

Galaxy Tab S 10.5 comes with a 7,900mAh battery while the 8.4-inch version has a 4,900mAh battery. Both are available in Titanium Bronze and Dazzling White colours.

Samsung's latest Android tablet, the Galaxy Tab S, takes direct aim at the iPad with units that are both thinner and lighter -- despite offering larger screen sizes -- for the same price as Apple's iconic tablets.
